About Ocala
Ocala/Marion County and Gainesville/Alachua County are referred to as The Heart of Florida. With the University of Florida just 35 minutes to the north of Ocala, the two communities blend their unique characteristics synergistically.
Known as The Horse Capital of the World, the area boasts a unique mixture of rural and urban lifestyles within its boundaries. Rolling hills and majestic tree-lined scenic country roads are a surprise to many first-time visitors. Centrally located in the very Heart of Florida, there is easy access and almost equal distance to the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean.
Ocala's Regional Airport has just constructed a radar tower which positions the facility for immediate, air traffic expansion, and commercial flights. Gainesville Regional Airport, a 45 minutes drive to the north, has expanded to provide excellent air connections to the area. In addition, Orlando International Airport is 1.5 hours south of Ocala. Tampa International Airport is 2 hours southwest, and Jacksonville Airport is 2 hours northeast of us. |
